Before Commencement Checklist

• Stay informed by following us on Instagram and Facebook, and continue to visit the Commencement website for updates.
• Share your memories and Lend your voice. Send in pictures and videos, and take a moment to record your answer to a few questions to be included in the ceremony via the Graduate Submission Form. The deadline to submit content is Friday, April 22, 2023.
• Apply to Graduate: The deadline for undergraduate registration is February 9, 2023. Your application can be found in SIS. Visit the Office of the Registrar’s website for more information, or contact [email protected].
• Register to attend commencement. On or around March 1, 2023 you will receive an email with your login information to Marching Order. You MUST register for each ceremony that you plan to participate in. The registration deadline is April 19, 2023.
• Sign up for text alerts: Receive weather-related texts on Commencement day by entering your cell phone number in the box at the bottom of the Commencement homepage.
• Order your Cap and Gown: Be sure to purchase a cap and gown to participate in this year’s ceremony. Order online at https://jhu.shopoakhalli.com. Online orders will be shipped directly to the student’s desired address (S&H fees will apply), or you can purchase your regalia in-store during Grad Fair, March 30 – April 1, 2023 11 am – 6 pm.  The deadline to order your bachelor’s cap and gown is April 8, 2023.
• Attend Grad Fair to order your cap and gown, personalized announcements, and diploma frames. Grad Fair will take place in the spring at the Johns Hopkins Barnes and Noble at St. Paul and 33rd Streets.
• Have your Senior Portrait taken. GradImages® will be onsite taking portraits at the Grad Fair at the Johns Hopkins Barnes and Noble. More information about portraits can be found here.
• Select a Diploma Frame. You can order your diploma frame online at Johns Hopkins Alumni Association or Johns Hopkins Barnes and Noble. Diploma frames will also be available at Barnes and Nobel’s Grad Fair in the spring.
• Be part of the JHU Ring Tradition: You may order online at Balfour or 1-800-225-3687. More information about the ring ceremony can be found online here.
• Customize and purchase your graduation announcements from CB Graduation Announcements.
•  Make your senior class gift today to support your student group, sports team, financial aid, or any area you choose! Visit the campaign page to make your gift.
• Reserve Hotel Rooms: Make sure parents, and other special guests have a place to stay. Visit our Hotel page for a list of hotels offering special rates to JHU grads and their guests.

Day of Commencement Checklist

• Arrive On Time
• Keep Your Feet Happy: Wear comfortable footwear; you will be walking and standing for long periods of time.
• Leave Personal Items at Home: Backpacks, bags, and purses larger than 13″ x 15″ are not permitted. All bags could be searched upon entering the stadium. For a complete list of restricted items, visit the FAQ page.
• Don’t Forget to Eat: Food and beverage will not be available in the stadium. Water will be provided.
